COMMUNITY SERVICE INITIATIVE
ABOUT
Community Service is a form of service learning, which is basically using curriculum to help foster a sense of care and concern among us for our community and the world at large. It can be a village, an orphanage or a distant dying species. In the process of recognising and taking steps to meet the needs of others, one will gradually be enhanced in creativity, critical and reflective skills.
Furthermore, this module has helped us develop our personal and social responsibility, where we have learnt through participating in a service experience, and this is when we had the opportunity to use our skills and knowledge in real-life situations. We are exposed to community needs and experience caring for another person while learning about the resources available to people for revitalising their communities.
Last but not least, we also had the opportunity to develop basic knowledge and skills in community service strategies, tactics, and techniques, including the art of volunteerism.
