THIRD VISIT

This time we planned to come up with a simple yet useful product design. It has to be something new and people out there will be impressed and would really want to buy it.  For this we have spent quite some time looking for inspirations online and throwing out weird ideas into our idea bank. After some time cracking our head, finally we came out with an innovation, which is a cable organiser! The cable organiser will be made out of fabric and being hold together by a button or a Velcro strap. With this idea in mind we went out to get a few buttons and a meter long Velcro strap from ACE Hardware shop, feeling excited that we are actually gonna make that thing out of our own hands.

21st of October, Friday, once again. This marks our third time visiting PPOC center. We came well-prepared, ready to try out on our new idea. One of our group mates, Nicosius even bought his own mini sewing machine from a hardware shop! But he actually didn't know how to use it... Therefore we started trying out the machine and try to learn how to use it. Fortunately our group mate Jun knows how to use the actual sewing machine. Therefore it didn't take long for us to found out how the mini one actually works. Some of them started to choose the suitable fabric for our cable organiser, some of them measure and mark while others do the cutting. Meanwhile Jun and I we were doing the sewing part with the mini machine.

The first few tries actually turned out bad. it was either too short, too wide or too long. But we didn't want to give up on our idea so easily, we have to make it work! After a few attempts we ended up getting the right size to tie a phone cable or a earphone cable perfectly. Followed by the Velcro strap being cut to the right size and being sew onto the fabric to finish up the product. And it works just fine!

Feeling very confident with this new product, we went to proposed it to Miss Amy. Sadly she shot it down as well, she said that she doesn't think that anyone would want to buy the product, and that she will only make them if there is a quantity of order that came in. We felted that it is kind of unfair of her to make assumptions like this and so to prove our idea really works, we went test market in our very own class.
